Weekend Quickies (Aug 15-17, 2008)
' The Croatian Fest features a huge roast of 75 lambs and over 10 whole pigs at the St. Jerome Croatian Catholic Church. The festivities include homemade foods, ethnic dancing, and a beer garden. (Aug 15)
' This weekend marks the 50th Annual Chicago Air & Water Show. Arrive early and claim your spot at either North Avenue Beach or Oak Street Beach, where you'll see the Blue Angels, the Golden Knights parachute team, an F-22 Raptor, and much more. (Aug 15-17)
' The third annual North Side Summerfest features live music from over a dozen artists and bands and plenty of food and crafts vendors. (Aug 15-17)
' Attracting thousands of visitors, the Edison Park Fest includes a parade, a dog show, live music, and a beer garden. (Aug 15-17)

' Take your dog for a 90-minute, narrated boat tour along the Chicago River and Lake Michigan as part of the Mercury Canine Cruise. Water and treats are provided for the pets, and all pooches much be leashed. (Every Sunday through Sept 28)
' At Navy Pier, the Chicago Turkish World Festival features music, folk dancing, food, cultural presentations, and merchandise from Turkey, Macedonia, Bosnia, and Albania. (Aug 16-17)

I saw the Blue Angels on Memorial Day at Jones Beach. They are a definite must-see!
