Today we celebrate Thanksgiving.  We all know the store of the early settlers and the Indians.  It is the day set aside by President Abraham Lincoln to acknowledge “The gracious gifts of the Most High God”.   Later, Congress made the last Thursday in November a National Holiday in 1941.

There is not one person who has not heard about Black Friday.  It’s the beginning of the Holiday Season.  Find a special gift for all of the people on your list at a great price.  Stores in Chicagoland and across the US will open at before the crack of dawn.
Shoppers will attack the stores looking for advertised specials.  If they are lucky, they will find that most stores have limited quantities and no rain checks.

On your mark, get ready, Go!
The 31st Annual Turkey Trot 8k Run, Walk, Jr Dash is Thanksgiving day at 9am.  What a great way to clear out some calories for the big Thanksgiving Dinner.
Lincoln Park is the beautiful setting for a nice morning run for a great cause.  Canned foods are collected before the race.  100% of all food and cash donations go to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.  A run for a great reason.  During last year’s race, 8000 pounds of food were collected, WOW!

It may be a little cool out there right now, but nothing compared to winter in Chicago.

Now through June 2009, you can enjoy the Chic Chicago Exhibit at the Chicago History Museum.  Check out the timeline of Chicago’s history from Industry to a Glamour Mecca.    Generations of Chicago women helped change Chicago in Chic and Sophisticate and not necessarily in that order.  This exhibit walks your through time date of 1861 to 2004.  There are lots of colors and styles that you see along the way that may repeat themselves – can we say ‘mini skirt’.

Sunday November 23, 1-5 pm at the Bow Wow Playground.
Attend the fundraiser to save Labs.  All proceeds benefit the rescue which is a 501(c)3 charitable organization placing unwanted Labs in new homes. 
A unique shopping experience.  There will be pictures with Santa and raffled prizes.  Shop with a variety of vendors including Deb Henkes Animal Communicator, Pampered Chef, and Happy Dog Barkery just to name a few.
 There will also be refreshments and Moon Jump for the kiddies.  Admission for adults is $3 per person.  Children and Dogs are Free.
