"Top Chef: Chicago" Goes to the Movies
This season of the Bravo network's Top Chef was filmed here in Chicago, exposing competing chefs from all over the country to all the culinary treats the Windy City has to offer.
This week's Quickfire challenge required each of the chefs to create a vegetable platter using a variety of vegetables provided, in addition to all of the items from the Top Chef pantry. The chefs had to use at least three culinary techniques in their dishes. The winner received immunity from the following Elimination Challenge.
If you're on the lookout for some Chicago places that offer tasty vegetarian options, I've got you covered right here at The Chicago Traveler. A few veggie-friendly places include:
- Aurelio's Pizza
- Caf' 28
- Crust
- Cupcakes
- Irazu
- Karyn's Fresh Corner
- Lou Malnati's
- Tel Aviv Kosher Pizza
- Veggie Bite
In the Elimination Challenge, the competitors were divided into six teams of two. Collectively, they had to put together a six-course meal, in which each team's dish was to be inspired by their favorite film. Dinner guests included Chicago Sun-Times film critic Richard Roeper and actress Aisha Tyler.
The Windy City has inspired dozens of films, a few of which have been covered by this blog. Keep an eye out for The Chicago Traveler's Friday Film series!
