Veterans Day

by Matt B on November 12th, 2007

Today is Veterans Day, a U.S. holiday which honors military veterans and is celebrated on the same day as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day in other parts of the world. Both a federal and state holiday, it marks the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I ('the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month').

No matter what my personal political beliefs may be, I will always appreciate what the military men and women go through on our behalf. And so I say, to all the vets and to those currently serving, with admiration and gratitude, Thank You.

And to A., currently serving with the Marines in Iraq, I may not say it often, but I'm proud to call you my brother.
