Today is Veterans Day, a U.S. holiday which honors military veterans and is celebrated on the same day as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day in other parts of the world. Both a federal and state holiday, it marks the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I (“the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month”).
