The Chicago Traveler

Papillon

by Matt B on February 16th, 2008

Many Chicagoans flinch at the mere mention of going outside city limits. However, Papillon's warm, inviting atmosphere and delicious French fare are worth the trek.

franceThe word 'exquisite' doesn't even begin to describe the created by Chef Kljajic, or 'Chef Danny' as he is referred to by friendly locals. Chef Danny enjoys being very hands-on with his restaurant: answering the phones, greeting customers, taking orders, pouring drinks, etc. Of course, some may argue that he wears his chef's hat best, as he provides incredible polenta and fantastic salads (with spring vegetables and goat cheese). Among the entrees, try the filet that is so tender, you won't need a knife. The salmon is succulent and tasty, and the lamb is arguably the best in Chicagoland. If you need help selecting a wine, don't be afraid to ask Chef Danny himself. After all, he knows his food best and, therefore, what will complement it.

In this small setting, the chef is able to give his customers the individual attention they could only dream of elsewhere. Remember though, because the restaurant only has a few tables, reservations are highly recommended.
