Labor Day Weekend
Chicago will be holding the 29th Annual Chicago Jazz Festival this weekend, August 30 through September 2. It begins with a ticketed concert at the Chicago Symphony Center and moves to Grant Park for three days of free, wonderful music. It’s the city’s longest-running lakefront music festival and features local, national, and international performers on three stages, not to mention an art fair and an outdoor wine garden. Jazz fans can enjoy sounds of Herbie Hancock, Charlie Haden, John Medeski, John Scofield, Billy Martin, Chris Wood, Ernestine Anderson, Frank Wess, and many, many more. Come experience the funk, rock, soul, reggae, and jazz that will mesmerize and move you.

One of Chicago’s largest neighborhood festivals, the African Festival of the Arts celebrates the African influence in America with live blues, jazz, and hip-hop, along with food, arts, books, and more. (Aug 31-Sept 3)- The Last Fling in Naperville is the last chance for folks to enjoy the summer, featuring live music on two stages including the BoDeans and Cheap Trick. (Aug 31-Sept 3)
Celebrate all things Polish at the Taste of Polonia, featuring live entertainment, arts and crafts, beer, food, karaoke, and of course' polka! (Aug 31-Sept 3)- The South Loop will be jamming during the two-day summer festival, Bash on Wabash, which celebrates the diversity of its community with live music and great food. (Sept 1-2)
- The Frankfort Fall Festival features 300 artists and craftsmen from almost 30 states, carnival rides, and live music. (Sept 1-3)
Alright gentlemen, it’s time to show some leg. The Long Grove Irish Days will hold a “Best Legs in a Kilt” Contest, along with cultural dancing, genealogy tents, live entertainment, and traditional food and drink. (Sept 1-3)
