The holidays are meant to bring everyone together– but not everyone fancies meeting in the kitchen. There are many choices for Christmas restaurants around Chicago, along with Christmas Eve choices. There is a chance that your favorite venue may be open, but here are some solid choices if you are looking to change it up.

If you decide that Christmas isn’t meant for a restaurant, but you aren’t meant to cook up a feast either– here is a fantastic option for you:

Frontier

1072 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60642
(773) 772-4322

Frontier is an exception to the dining in rule here. However, they are bringing their top notch cuisine to your dining room table.
Executive Chef, Brian Jupiter, will be preparing smoked meats, and side dishes to order. You will have the choice of:
•Amish Smoked Turkey ($75; 15 lb range serves 10-14)
•Duck ($55; 6 lb serves 6-8)
•Smoked Pork Loin ($65; 10 lb serves 10-12)
•Porchetta ($325: 40 lb serves 20-25)
•Whole Boneless Stuffed Chicken with Crawfish & Cornbread Stuffing ($35; serves 4-6)
•Smoked Wings ($30)

They have all the necessary sides to compliment as well.

If you are teeter-tottering at the idea of staying in or going out for the holidays, this may be the best option for you.
Order by Monday, the 22nd– pick-up on Wednesday, the 24th– then feast at home with minimal work!

Now that I gave you that option to ponder, I’ll focus the remainder of the list on dine-in locations.

The Boarding House

720 N Wells St, Chicago, IL 60654
(312) 280-0720

The Boarding House believes that the taste of the holidays are not always universal. That is why instead of a fixed menu, they are serving their full menu– they want to assure that everyone gets exactly what they want for Christmas. Their menu is extensive and utterly exquisite.

Commonwealth Tavern

2000 W Roscoe St, Chicago, IL 60618
(773) 697-7965

Commonwealth will have their doors open on Christmas Eve (24th). They will be featuring $5 Clog and Warm Holiday Spiced Cider– along with their quality beer selection, of course. Commonwealth Tavern offers a cozy location, which is perfect for dinner, drinks, and conversation.

Kanela Breakfast Club

3231 N. Clark St, Chicago, IL 60657 1552 N. Wells St, Chicago, IL 60610 1048 N. Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60622

Biscuits and Gravy, Eggnog Pancakes, Ham & Egg Quiche, and Butternut Squash Soup will round out the brunch specials. If you are near enough to their Wicker Park location, you will be treated with a $5 unlimited BYOB Bloody Mary Bar as well as a $10 corkage fee for champagne (includes orange juice) and wine!

MAK : Modern Asian Kitchen

1924 W. Division Chicago, IL 60622
(773) 772-6251

MAK if offering their entire menu on Christmas Eve, with an added bonus. Every MAK bowl order will receive half-price alcohol to wash it down. Their drink selection contains many Asian beers, sake and wine to choose from. Sake bombs all around is a perfect way to bring in the holiday!

Siena Tavern

51 W Kinzie St, Chicago, IL 60654
(312) 595-1322

Siena Tavern will be serving up their full menu on Christmas Eve, as well as a special taste of the holidays menu.
Siena Tavern excels in Italian cuisine, with an extensive amount of choices. I highly recommend having everyone order a different style of meal and sharing– otherwise it will be too hard to decide on one entree.

Christmas Party:

Lottie’s Pub

1925 W Cortland Chicago, IL 60622
(773) 489-0738

Lottie’s Pub is celebrating the Christmas holiday in their own unique way– A Rock and Roll Christmas to be exact! Their annual party is back once again, starting at 4pm. Classic and modern Rock n Roll hits will grace your ears, as specialty drinks and beer will satisfy your lips.
Newcastle can be had for $3.50, with the special shot of the night being a Candy Cane for $5.
Their seasonal cocktails are $6-$10 (most involve either chocolate or cider).

BYOB

Bistronomic

(312) 944-8400

Bistronomic takes on the holiday season in a modern taste fashion. Their seasonal, local, sustainable menu can be had for $65. These French dishes will leave you wanting more– if only your stomach could fit it. There will also be a notable amount of vegetarian options to assure that everyone can enjoy their Christmas meal to the fullest. Spend your day feasting like royalty.

638 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60605
(312) 765-0524

The holidays are all about getting together with the ones that you love to enjoy each other’s company and share with each other. There is no easier way to share than Mercat a La Planxa’s tapas style menu. They will be serving both brunch ($35) and dinner ($75) on Christmas Day. (Open Christmas Eve as well.)
Eating at a tapas restaurant is like waking up to a Christmas tree full of presents, rather than a single large one. The more you open (taste), the more enjoyable it is.

NoMI

Park Hyatt Chicago, 800 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60611
(312) 239-4030

NoMI seems to find its way on many of our lists– for good reason. Their Á la Carte menu can be had for $125. It is loaded with fine-dining options from lavish chef-stations, and topped off with an entree. They break it into categories– From the Ocean, From the Pasture, From the Stove, and Cold Table. They have it all covered.

(312) 923-9988

Travelle Restaurant has a fiesty festive menu this year. You have the choice to choose from the Naughty or the Nice list this year– or you can be a little of each. This gourmet meal will leave you more satisfied than any gifts that you receive.
