Known for some of the finest establishments when it comes to dining out, Chicago is one of the best restaurant cities in the world. Some may say Chicago’s claim to fame is the deep-dish pizza, but make no mistake, when it comes to steak, the Windy City knows how to pack a punch. Did we mention there is a bit of a rivalry with our top two choices?

The Top Steakhouses in Chicago

#1 Mastros
Known for their top-notch service, amazing steak and seafood, along with an ambiance like no other, Mastros tops our list. Great steak, along with sides that will amaze you with their portion size, Mastros is a great date night restaurant. With the contemporary design, and attentive staff, along with all the amazing menu selections, we promise, you and your date will love your choice.

#2 Ruth’s Chris Steak House
Not only a Chicago classic, but a favorite nationwide. Ruth’s Chris ambiance, and the pure flavor of their steak, keeps them in the game with any of our top three. Known for their steaming hot plates (no need to touch them, take our word for it, they’re hot), the chefs always cook your steak just under the temperature you order, as when a steak sits on a 500-degree plate, you better believe the cooking process doesn’t stop. Not in the mood for a steak? Try their lamb chops. They are equally as filling and flavorful as the filet.

#3 Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab
Don’t let the name fool you, while seafood is something Joe’s is famous for, their selection of the finest steaks will not disappoint even the biggest steak lover. Their bone-in filet is something that will leave you amazed and delighted. Along with amazing sides like asparagus, and creamed spinach, to name a few, this is not just a home for their signature stone crab. What better place to get your surf and turf? And, as a favorite of many of the Chicago Blackhawks, don’t be surprised if you see Patrick Kane sitting a table in the dining room, eating right alongside you.

#4 Gene & Georgetti’s
One of the oldest, and finest steakhouses in Chicago, Gene & Georgetti’s has been a Chicago tradition since the 1940’s. Located on the near North side, visitors and regulars for years, have been ordering some of the finest steaks in the city. One of the crowd pleasers is the Porterhouse, known to fill even the hungriest of guests, the Porterhouse is a favorite for it’s size and taste. With the consistently amazing service, and the history to back it up, this is a must for anyone spending anytime in Chicago. If you want to dine in a traditional Chicago steakhouse, Gene & Georgetti’s is the place.

#5 Benny’s Chop House
Completely opposite of #4 on the list, Benny’s Chop House is the new tradition in Chicago steakhouses. With it’s contemporary design, and brand new interiors, Benny’s is the “new kid” on the block, that won’t fail to disappoint. Located near the Trump Tower, this modern steak house has mastered incredible service, along with fantastic steak, and an incredible wine list. This choice will leave you raving.

#6 Ditka’s
With a name like Ditka’s, how can you go wrong? “Da Coach” has a great place for steak, and if you want to go a little out of the norm, order the pork chops, we promise, you won’t be sorry! A Chicago tradition for years, Ditka’s friendly staff, amazing food, and drinks to die for, should be part of everyone’s Chicago experience.

#7 Chicago Cut Steakhouse
When two Rosebud veterans go off and open their own steak house, in the middle of River North, you know they are on to something. David Flom and Matthew Moore did just that when they opened Chicago Cut, in the summer of 2010. And ever since, they have been the place to have a steak in the city. Celebrities from Oprah and Michael Jordan, to politicians like Rahm Emanuel, have become regulars at 300 N. LaSalle. Keeping up with the current technology, Cut even allows you to order off a tablet, making Cut cutting edge, in addition to serving some of the best steak in the 312.

#8 Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse
One can’t truly experience the finer steak houses in Chicago, without stopping by Rush Street. If you are looking for that delicious 24-oz. bone-in sirloin, Gibsons is your answer. Their prices may be a bit over the top, but their savory steaks, along with their homemade desserts, make your stomach feel like you got your money’s worth!
