Valentine’s Day in Chicago 2009

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day

It’s time to plan for a special day. It’s Valentine’s Day in the Windy City. Here are some ideas to get you started. Remember that Valentine’s Day is a busy time so don’t wait to the last minute or you will have some ’splainin to do’ Lucy!

Treat your Valentine to a Dinner Cruise aboard the Odyssey taking in the sites. The cruise is four hours long. You will enjoy a three course dinner with special sweet for your sweet. When boarding you will receive complimentary champagne and will receive a picture that will mark your romantic cruise. There are cruises on Friday and Saturday February 13th and 14th.

Enjoy a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner'at many of our fine dining establishments. Most will have a wait so make sure you call ahead for a reservation. Put on your best and take in a night on the town.

Board a Noble Horse Drawn Carriage on Michigan and Chicago Avenue. You can take in the city’s beautiful sites at night. Not for the faint at heart, remember you are in Chicago, so dress in layers for the cold. Most of the carriage rides are a half an hour but can seat up to four people.

Enjoy a Hands on Romantic Valentine’s Dinner at the Chopping Block. Each couple will help cook dinner consisting of Smoked Salmon, Creme Fraiche and Caviar and more. You will also receive a complimentary glass of champagne.

How about a sweet Daddy Daughter/ Mommy Son Dance on Valentine’s Day? Chicago Park district is sponsoring a special Valentine’s Day event with music, dancing and refreshments.

Garfield Park Conservatory will host its 1st Annual Sweet Saturday on each Saturday in February. Saturday February 15th is Divine Chocolate day with hands-on activities for the entire family. You can design a scratch and sniff necklace or a ‘leaf rubbing’ card.

Enjoy Ice Skating with your sweety at the Millennium Park’s McCormick Tribune Ice Rink. Bring your own skates and skate for free. Otherwise skate rental is $10. If you get too chilly, there is a warming lobby.

Check out Snow Days Chicago in Grant Park which features a National Snow Sculptures made entirely from snow. There will also be dog sled demonstrations and all sorts of kid’s activities.

Enjoy the Arts on Valentine’s Day Weekend with the River North Chicago Dance featuring live vocals and dance.

Pick your loveseat for you and your sweety at the Muvico Rosemont Movie Theater which has a full-service bar, on site child care and smoothie bar. In the Premier VIP seating area for adults 21 and over there are loveseats for two which makes for rather cozy movie kind of like sitting at home on the couch without the children.

There is a lot of things to choose from, but less than 2 weeks. Don’t delay!
