Chicago’s Earth Hour 2009
On March 28th at 8:30pm, Most Chicagoans will participate in Earth Hour 2009.' If you remember, last year Chicago had 2.7 million people participate in Earth Hour and we are hoping to top that number this year.' Earth Hour began to raise awareness of the need for energy efficiency and global climate change.' The event actually began in 2007 in Australia.
The Sears Tower and all of the other Chicago buildings will dim 'to honor Earth Hour.' Last year there was a 7% energy savings in just our area alone.' That equates to taking a million cars off the road or planting 158 acres of trees, wow.
Whatever event you choose for Saturday evening from eating at a restaurant to seeing your favorite movie, keep in mind that most buildings will honor Earth Hour and go dark.
