Chicago’s Sazerac Month

Sit back and partake of New Orleans oldest cocktail to help celebrate Chicago Sazerac Month.' Purchase the drink at The Violet Hour, Sepia, Nacional 27, The Whistler, and The Drawing Room and 50% of the purchase will go to New Orleans area charities.

Sazerac is reportedly the first cocktail invented in the 1830s.' The drink was named after the imported

Sazerac cognac.' The Fairmont Hotel in New Orleans has a Sazerac Bar.' The Hotel pays a fee to the Sazerac Corporation for use of the name.' On June 23, 2008, The Louisiana House of Representatives proclaimed Sazerac the Official Cocktail.
