St.Paddy’s Day Race
For fourteen years, this race has kicked off the celebration for many. Burning off some calories in the A.M. before you indulge in authentic Irish food and drinks all day is not a bad call. The race is live at 9:30am in Lincoln Park.

If running isn’t your ideal way to kick off your celebration, Wise Fools Pub will be going strong beginning at 8am. Breakfast will be served, accompanied by a four-hour open bar that will be serving beer and well drinks.

Dying the Chicago River/Saint Patrick’s Day Parade
This tradition begins at 10:00am with the dying of the Chicago River. If you have never experienced this event, it will definitely be a treat for your eyes. The best place to view this is the East side of the Michigan Avenue bridge, the West side of the Columbus Drive bridge or upper and lower Wacker Drive between Michigan Avenue and Columbus Drive. At 12:00pm the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade will begin. Its starting point is at Balbo and Columbus and finishing at Monroe and Columbus.

Saint Patrick’s Festival – Irish American Heritage Center
The celebration is one that can be enjoyed by anyone and everyone. It unites everything that is great about this holiday under one roof; live music, dance, food and other events will fill your time. With over 10,000 people expected to attend this celebration, you never know who you might run into. It runs from 1pm to Midnight; making it a perfect stop after the downtown parade.

St. Patrick’s Day Cruise – Spirit of Chicago
For a unique experience, and to escape land for awhile, the Spirit of Chicago is offering an afternoon lunch cruise from 3:30-5:30pm. To accompany the spectacular view, a lunch buffet and green beer will keep you satisfied as you spend the afternoon dancing on the water.

Super Saturday – Fado Irish Pub
For an all around Irish experience, Fado Irish Pub should be a sure stop. Their doors open at 7am for European sports, including English Premier League soccer and 6 Nations Rugby. Food will be served all morning with a special menu taking over at 11am. Live music begins at noon and goes all day with a DJ taking over the downstairs at 10pm to keep everyone moving throughout the night.
