Chicago is one of the most amazing cities to visit during the summer months.  The lakefront is a buzz with people, the streets are alive with activity, and there are some amazing festivals during the “season” that visitors and residents alike can enjoy.

 #1  Taste of Chicago

Our list could not start with any other festival, than the Taste of Chicago.  With its 34-year history of being the world’s premier food festival, this is one of those “bucket list” things that everyone should enjoy at some point in their travels to the city by the lake.  With a list of food vendors a mile long, and the scenic backdrop of Lake Michigan, this is the festival to which all others are measured.  Taking place this year from July 10th to July 14th, with musical acts like FUN performing, you had better make your plans now!

 #2  Chicago Blues Festival

Another long-time festival, with 30 years under their belt, The Chicago Blues Festival is another mainstay for the Chicago festival season.  The event kicks off on June 6th at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, with headliners Shemekia Copeland, and guitar legend Buddy Guy at 6:30 p.m.  The festival then moves to Grant Park, and over the next 3 days have some of the most amazing acts from the blues and jazz industry.  For more information, and the entire line-up please visit, Chicago Blues Festival.

 #4  Wells Street Art Festival

The second art festival to make the list is another long-standing Chicago tradition.  Located in the historic Old Town neighborhood, this festival features over 250 artist booths, tasty food selections, and an always toe-tapping music stage.  Taking place on June 8th and 9th mark you calendars now for this fun Chicago tradition.

 #5  Chicago Pride Fest

Switching gears a bit, but still a highly regarded festival in Chicago is the Chicago Pride Fest.  Kicking off 1 week prior to the famous Gay Pride Parade, this event is for everyone with an eclectic lineup of arts and crafts booths, food, and some of the city’s finest gay and lesbian performers.  So, don’t let the name fool you, and make sure you check out this fun festival on June 22nd and June 23rd in on N.
