The Chicago Traveler

Thanksgiving Day

by Matt B on November 22nd, 2007

The First Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving Day, a traditional holiday celebrated by the U.S. every fourth Thursday of November to give thanks after the harvest season. Friends and family often gather for a festive and filling meal.

Catch the 74th Annual State Street Thanksgiving Parade today in the Loop, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at State St and Congress Pkwy. This spectacular event features marching bands, giant helium balloons, local theatre performances, floats, horses, dancers, and more. The parade travels north along State St to Randolph St.

I’m currently in Las Vegas, celebrating this special day with my significant other. I want to take this moment though to tell all my loved ones back home in Chicago how grateful I am to have them in my life. And of course, thank you to all the locals and tourists who help make The Chicago Traveler the success that it is.
