City of Chicago Store
Everyone knows at least one person that's seemingly impossible to shop for. If this person on your list is a fan of Chicago and its history, then there's a store near Michigan Avenue that's perfect for them: the City of Chicago Store.
Just across the street from Water Tower Place, you'll find the city's old pumping station and the City of Chicago Store. There're plenty of wonderful souvenirs as well as retired municipal equipment, making it perfect for both tourists and longtime Windy City enthusiasts.
This Chicago 'outlet,' if you will, carries a variety of books, featuring the city's history and architecture. Along with T-shirts, mugs, and DVDs, there are unique items like neckties and holiday ornaments. The store offers a great collection of replicas of Chicago street signs, not to mention all the posters and prints of the Chicago skyline and city attractions. You can even buy an old parking meter that still works! One of the most popular items this year is the honey made by bees on the rooftop of Chicago's City Hall. And, if you can't make it to the store itself, check out their online selection.
All of the proceeds from the City of Chicago Store go into the Department of Cultural Affairs.
