The Chicago Traveler

Licensing and Fair Use Rationale

by Matt B on January 1st, 2007

Licensing

This image is of a poster, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by either the publisher or the creator of the work depicted. It is believed that the use of scaled-down, low-resolution images of posters to provide commentary on the film, event, etc. in question or of the poster itself (not solely for illustration) qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image may be copyright infringement.

Fair Use Rationale

  1. No free equivalent exists that would effectively identify the article’s subject.
  2. This image is being used to illustrate the character or the film in question and is used for informational purposes only.
  3. The image does not in any way limit the ability of the copyright owners to market or sell their product.
  4. The image is rendered in low resolution to avoid piracy.
  5. The image has been published outside The Chicago Traveler and is linked to (an) outside source(s).
  6. The image is used in the article namespace.
  7. The image has a brief description that identifies the image, notes the source, and provides attribution to the copyright holder.
