Labor Day Weekend Live Music at Castaways
  • Saturday, September 3 to Monday, September 5
While Castaways Bar & Grill on North Avenue Beach will stay open through September (weather permitting), their live music will wrap up Labor Day weekend. The entertainment lineup is below. Castaways will serve lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and menu items include fresh salads, wraps, sandwiches, and quesadillas accompanied by frozen cocktails and even Corona in a can (No bottles on the beach).
Castaways offers cabanas available for rent daily. The two cabanas are located on the north end of the Castaways upper deck with a capacity of 10 to 12 people (max) each. The cabanas are available for rent from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Chicagoans who stick around the city this Labor Day weekend can enjoy Forno Rosso’s new Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.Guests will enjoy a menu created by chef/owner Nick Nitti featuring items like a veggie breakfast pizza and pancakes topped with mascarpone and Amarena cherries, both made in Forno Rosso’s wood-burning oven, Nutella French Toast and frittatas along with Frosé (Cote des Roses Rosé, raspberry sorbetto, fresh raspberries; $12), Bloody Marys made with a house San Marzano tomato blend ($10) and more. Forno Rosso will also offer a bottomless mimosa option for $20 per person.

 

Guests who dine in for brunch onSeptember 4 and fill out an entry form will be entered to win a pair of airline tickets to Italy (limit one entry per guest per visit). The winner will be announced on Sunday, September 11.
Weather permitting, guests will also have a chance to play beer pong for $10 per team on Forno Rosso’s 60-seat patio, which spans the exterior of the restaurant on Randolph Street.
